My name is Joseph and I am the creator of this network called Mercury Tutors. I got my start in tutoring at Marymount college where I was on the math faculty from 2004 to 2007. During this time I did in home math and English tutor lessons in Torrance and Redondo Beach. I actually enjoyed the freedom of working for myself much more than I had anticipated.
I spend a good amount of time in Long Beach these days as well as the Torrance area and am able to tutor algebra and other math and English classes in Long Beach and in the neighboring cities of Fullerton and Anaheim.
In the ten years I've been in this business the one thing I've learned more than anything is that the vast majority of teachers and tutors do not have the knack for making complex concepts easy to understand. My goal with this network is to have it composed of only those educators who have the instinct and the experience to truly help students to be their best. I can usually get a good intuition about the quality of a potential math or English tutor but a couple of phone calls to families they have tutored and to past employers gives an even more accurate measure of what they bring to the table.
